What is Adoption?
- Adoption is a permanent situation. The biological family gives up all rights to the parent the child, or to have the child returned to them. The adoptive parents become the legal parents of the child, with all the rights and responsibilities to care for and provide for the child. Adoption is NOT a temporary situation or a foster care situation. The child is not placed for education, training and then returned to the biological parents.
- Adoption is a lifelong decision
- If you chose to place your child for adoption your parental rights will be terminated and your child will be adopted permanently by another family.
